Frequently asked questions
How does ICON work?
ICON uses:
A counter-batten system for ventilation
Weatherproof MC4 connectors
Stainless steel fasteners
An interlocking tile system with no visible spacers or penetrations
It’s built with efficiency and simplicity in mind — both for performance and aesthetics.
Is the system customizable?
Yes. System sizes are designed to match your roof and energy goals. Larger systems generate more power — up to 60% more than traditional systems, depending on configuration.
What kind of roof is ICON installed on?
Our tile integrates with roofing profiles like Westlake Okeechobee Black Saxony 900 Slate, and similar high-end concrete products.
How do the solar tiles connect?
Each tile uses MC4 connectors and links together in a plug-and-play fashion, making electrical installation streamlined and weather-safe.
Are there visible wires or conduits?
No. All wiring is hidden beneath the tiles, maintaining a clean, seamless finish — one of the key advantages over rack-mounted panels.
How long does the install take?
Install time depends on the roof size but typically ranges from 3 to 7 days once permits are approved.
What if it rains during installation?
We install a weatherproof underlayment first. If rain is forecasted, we pause work and return when it’s safe. Your roof will never be left exposed.
Do I need to upgrade my electrical system?
In some cases, yes. If your panel is older or undersized, we’ll recommend a minor upgrade to safely handle your new solar system.
Can ICON be installed on a multifamily home or duplex?
Yes. ICON is ideal for single-family homes and applicable to multifamily homes depending on roof layout and utility metering setup.
